Timber Handrail
|
Timber handrails are available with either powder coated steel, galvanised or stainless steel support brackets for wall mounted or alternatively used on top of balustrades. Almost any profile is available but the standard ones are round and 40mm, 45mm or 50mm dia as recommended by the British Standards and Building regulations. To prevent joints opening during use handrails are mounted on a continuous 25mm x 10mm flat bar rebated to the underside. Corners are generally mitres but radius corners are possible at extra cost. Various types of timber are available from oak, ash and maple to cherry, afromsia and beech. Finished by waxing to enhance the colour or by a SILKINS coating, they are used both internally and externally where they comply with current DDA regulations requiring handrails to be warm to the touch. It must be noted that externally they do require regular maintenance. |
